 2019 Summer Programs

Day Camp – All Day Adventure!

Kids can experience a new exciting adventure every day! They may try out a new sport while hiking in the redwood forests, spend the afternoon paddling in coastal waters, climbing in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and exploring all the caves, beaches, rivers and waterfalls in between! This program is suitable for children ages 8-13. These sessions are 5 days long (Monday -Friday) and are full of fun and new experiences for the kids! We meet at the vista point at the intersection of Hwy 92 and Skyline Blvd (Hwy 35). Drop off is as 8:30 AM and pick up is at 4:30 PM.

Younger ages welcome upon parent/counselor  approval of physical ability and readiness. Please contact info@venturefreefoundation.org for more information and counselor approval.

Overnight Adventure Trips

The kids have a blast on these trips and always come back with smiles and lots of stories. These trips give returning campers the opportunity to test out the skills they have learned through our program, and offer campers who are new to our program the chance to make friends and learn the basics.

Surfin’ Safari (Ages 8 – 15):

An ultimate California experience! We will head down the Coast towards our ultimate destination in San Clemente where we will be camping next to world class surf spots including San Onofre, Churches, Trestles, Cottons and Old Mans! This means we will be walking distance to waves for nearly every level of surfer from beginner to advanced.… We welcome all levels of water-lovers and beach-goers to Safari with  us!

Our first destination is Point Mugu in Malibu! Here we will play in the Ocean, on the beach and will sleep on the sand before continuing on to San Clemente.

We will spent the next 6 nights in San Clemente, a minutes walk from the beach and many incredible surf spots! The experienced surfers can hit the waves any time of day with one of our surf lifeguards. And for the beginners and beach enthusiasts, we offer surf lessons, boogie boards, volley ball, beach games, and lots of sunscreen! 😉

As the group wants, we can hop in our safari van and explore other beaches, surf breaks, and surf shops!

Eastern Adventure Campout (ages 8 – 15):

Talk about Adventure – the Eastern Sierras offers up a big handful of just that! Kids will spend a week in the beautiful mountains above the history-rich Owens Valley where the options for outings and activities are endless. You can be guaranteed that swimming in crystal blue alpine lakes, hiking to hot springs, searching for waterfalls, rock climbing and fishing are just a few of the exciting items on our to-do list for this adventure!

Other opportunities the area provides; Petroglyphs believed to be over 8,000 years old, the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, Devils Postpile NM, Manzanar NM, Owen’s River Gorge, Alabama Hills and so much more!

With consideration to the group’s opinions, we plan to pack in the adventure wherever it may take us!

Sierra Forest Campout (ages 7-13):

A trip specifically designed for our younger campers… 5  days of swimming, fishing, and lake-side camping! Throw in a little climbing and hiking and we have ourselves an exciting week in the mountains!

Surrounded by tall pines, tons of hiking trails and great rocks to climb we will be camped in a perfect location for a week full of good ol’ fun! You won’t want to forget your bathing suit on this trip. We will be loaded up with fishing poles, paddle boats and water toys, ready for 5 days near the water!

Additional Program Information

The Venture Free Adventure Guides will meet you and your camper at the Vista Point parking lot located at the intersection of Skyline Blvd/Hwy 35 and Hwy 92. Our daily adventures take place at multiple locations throughout the greater Bay Area. For our Day Camp Adventures, drop off is as 8:30 AM and pick up is at 4:30 PM (at the same location.)

Be Prepared!

Kids should come prepared for a day full of adventure, wearing the appropriate clothing. Active clothes and active shoes that can get DIRTY are a must! A lot of camp time may be spent by the water so kids should bring a bathing suit, towel, warm clothes and come wearing sun screen!

Lunch/Meals

On adventure camp weeks, kids must bring their own lunch and plenty of water. An afternoon snack and extra water will be provided. For overnight camp-outs and backpacking trips, all meals are provided by Venture Free.

Drop-in Day Camper

We love new friends! Drop–ins are allowed and welcome, however, please check with us before to confirm that there is space for your child.

Payments

A completed Enrollment Form and deposit are required to hold your child’s spot in any one of the camps.  All payments are due in full before or on the first day of the camp week.

Rentals

If you need to rent equipment (such as surf boards, wet suits, sleeping bags, backpacking backpacks, etc…) please give at least one week notice regarding which equipment needs to be rented. Rental fees are due with payment.

Pre-trip Meetings

Please make a note of trips that require a pre-trip meeting. These meetings are mainly held before backpacking trips and are held to allow an introduction into how to pack your backpacking backpack and assistance in doing so. Backpacks are required to be packed before take-off for backpacking trips. If you are not able to attend the pre-meeting, please let us know so we can reschedule!

Disclosure: Due to Mother Nature’s wonderful ways, all trips are subject to change.
