Day Camp – All Day Adventure!

Kids can experience a new exciting adventure every day! They may try out a new sport while hiking in the redwood forests, spend the afternoon paddling in coastal waters, climbing in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and exploring all the caves, beaches, rivers and waterfalls in between! This program is suitable for children ages 8-14. These sessions are 5 days long (Monday -Friday) and are full of fun and new experiences for the kids! We meet at the vista point at the intersection of Hwy 92 and Skyline Blvd (Hwy 35). Drop off is as 8:30 AM and pick up is at 4:30 PM.

Overnight Adventure Trips

The kids have a blast on these trips and always come back with smiles and lots of stories. These trips give returning campers the opportunity to test out the skills they have learned through our program, and offer campers who are new to our program the chance to make friends and learn the basics.

Surfin’ Safari

To us, California summer means the sun and the beach! Experienced surfers, beginners, non-surfers, beach-lovers, and everyone in-between is welcome on this adventure!

Our ultimate destination is San Clemente in beautiful Southern California, where we will be camping next to world class surf spots including San Onofre, Churches, Trestles, Cottons and Old Mans! This means we will be walking distance to waves for nearly every level of surfer from beginner to advanced.

We will spend our first night in Malibu, sleeping on the beach at Point Mugu! From here, we will continue to San Clemente for the following 4 nights. Days will be filled with surf and beach time, volleyball, boogie boarding, possibly even some exploring of the beach town and surf shops!

Waterfalls Camping Trip

One of our favorite ways to cool off in the summer is splashing and swimming in the pools of beautiful waterfalls! Take this “cool” summer trip with us and explore some of the most stunning waterfalls Northern California has to offer!

We will spend the week camping at Oak Bottom Campground at Whiskeytown lake just outside of Redding. Here, we are treated with lakeside camp sites, great swimming areas and beautiful hikes to magical waterfalls! Throughout the week we will explore many different falls, from Crystal creek to the famous Burney Falls, and many other stunning cascades in between!

Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit on this trip!

Backpacking Desolation Wilderness

Our ideal way to finish up summer! Spend 5 days and 4 nights hiking and camping in the back country of Tahoe. In this beautiful land spotted with crystal clear lakes, towering trees, wildflowers, and wildlife, we will hikes parts of the Tahoe rim trail and the Pacific Crest Trail! Once we have found our ideal camping location, the rest is left to Nature! Near these alpine lakes, swimming, jumping rocks, fishing, explorations, and gorgeous views are abundant! Basic camping/backpacking skills will be taught on this trip, no previous experience needed!

All levels of backpackers are welcome, from experienced to beginners!

– Space for this trip is limited!

– Pre trip meeting is required for this trip.

– Rental backpacking gear is available!

Additional Program Information

The Venture Free Adventure Guides will meet you and your camper at the Vista Point parking lot located at the intersection of Skyline Blvd/Hwy 35 and Hwy 92. Our daily adventures take place at multiple locations throughout the greater Bay Area. For our Day Camp Adventures, drop off is as 8:30 AM and pick up is at 4:30 PM (at the same location.)

Be Prepared!

Kids should come prepared for a day full of adventure, wearing the appropriate clothing. Active clothes and active shoes that can get DIRTY are a must! A lot of camp time may be spent by the water so kids should bring a bathing suit, towel, warm clothes and come wearing sun screen!

Lunch/Meals

On adventure camp weeks, kids must bring their own lunch and plenty of water. An afternoon snack and extra water will be provided. For overnight camp-outs and backpacking trips, all meals are provided by Venture Free.

We love new friends! Drop–ins are allowed and welcome, however, please check with us before to confirm that there is space for your child.

Pre-trip Meetings

Please make a note of trips that require a pre-trip meeting. These meetings are mainly held before backpacking trips and are held to allow an introduction into how to pack your backpacking backpack and assistance in doing so. Backpacks are required to be packed before take-off for backpacking trips. If you are not able to attend the pre-meeting, please let us know so we can reschedule!
