Emily Dellinger – Program Director / Lead Adventure Guide
Emily founded Venture Free in 2014. She has a great love for adventure, and enjoys inspiring those around her to live happy and healthy lives. She started on her journey as an outdoor educator as a surf instructor, and has been working with kids for over 10 years. Her positive attitude and zest for life is contagious – she makes every day at camp great fun!
Emily’s education and certifications:
- Trained as an EMT (emergency medical technician)
- UCSC graduate with Bachelor’s in Psychology
- Personal Training certificate from National Academy of Sport Medicine
- Wilderness First Aid Certified
- Outdoor Guide and Trainer Certificate from Adventure Out
Matt Nichols – Adventure Guide / Camp Counselor
Matt is finishing up a degree in earth science with an emphasis in geology and has eight year’s experience working with children. From a young age he was spending time in nature and is passionate about environmental stewardship and outdoor fun. He is Wilderness first aid certified, loves smore’s, and has a thing for Rock’s ( both climbing and studying them).
Emily Baumer – Camp Counselor
Emily graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sculpture, and has spent the last few years instructing glassblowing classes and facilitating children’s art projects. After college she traveled across the country adopting a minimalist lifestyle and found artistic inspiration in nature. Her goal is to share a deeper appreciation of nature with others and also to defend it.
Edder Diaz – Adventure Guide
Edder (or “Cheesy Cheese” as the kids have dubbed him) has been with us since 2015. He is always willing to lead a helping hand on our daily adventures. He enjoys reading, rock climbing, and spending time in the great outdoors.
