Emily Dellinger – Program Director / Lead Adventure Guide
Emily founded Venture Free in 2014. She has a great love for adventure and enjoys inspiring those around her to live happy and healthy lives. She started on her journey as an outdoor educator as a surf instructor and has been working with kids for over 10 years. Her positive attitude and zest for life are contagious – she makes every day at camp great fun!
Emily’s education and certifications:
- Trained as an EMT (emergency medical technician)
- UCSC graduate with Bachelor’s in Psychology
- A Personal Training certificate from National Academy of Sport Medicine
- Wilderness First Aid Certified
- Outdoor Guide and Trainer Certificate from Adventure Out
Matt Nichols – Adventure Guide / Business Operator
Matt is finishing up a degree in earth science with an emphasis in geology and has eight year’s experience working with children. From a young age, he was spending time in nature and is passionate about environmental stewardship and outdoor fun. He is Wilderness first aid certified, loves smores, and has a thing for Rock’s ( both climbing and studying them).
Julie Pedersen – Senior Camp Counselor
Julie works at Kings Mountain Elementary School as a paraprofessional in the K/1 classroom and leads the art in action program. Julie has worked with students for over 20 years, and her goal is to promote physical, mental, and social development through the implementation of outdoor recreational activities.
Edder Diaz – Adventure Guide
Edder (or “Cheesy Cheese” as the kids have dubbed him) has been with us since 2015. He is always willing to lead a helping hand on our daily adventures. He enjoys reading, rock climbing, and spending time in the great outdoors.
